The SENCGS is collecting material for a journal, entitled Columbus Chronicles, a collection of articles about Columbus County people, places, things, events, etc., as our contribution to the upcoming Columbus County Bicentennial Celebration. Solicited materials are stories, real or fictional, photographs, official records, family stories, history, poetry — any topic — that relates to Columbus and surrounding counties. Material may be in any format — electronic copies, hard copies (both would be fantastic), handwritten, of just outlines of what you think would make a good story. You are encouraged to contact people in your community and spheres of influence and get them to contribute materials.
Materials may be delivered to Alice Soles, Editor, at the Columbus County Library or 407 N Powell Blvd, Whiteville, NC 28472 or by email at CCLibrary@gmail.com.
Copies may be obtained from www.lulu.com/sencgs.

The Ransom Township Historical Society is a tax-exempt organization dedicated to the documentation and preservation of meaningful rural historic sites, cultural ideas and conversation, to the education of the community in terms of its contribution to the overall growth and development of the communities along the Northeast Cape Fear River in lower Columbus and Bladen Counties, and to promote an appreciation of that heritage. Immediate focus is on the Riegelwood area towns and communities in Lower Columbus and overlapping Bladen County, especially the Lloyd Plantation Slave Cemetery and the Old Wes Keaton Landing, two meaningful sites associated with significant periods and persons in the history of Southeastern North Carolina.
