1. Christopher1 Gooden, Revolutionary Soldier, was the first member of this family in Bladen County. He was born about 1755 in the Halifax District of North Carolina and died September 8, 1781 at Eutaw Springs, South Carolina1. He was buried in an unmarked grave somewhere near the site of the battle. A Military Grave Marker to his memory has been erected in the cemetery at Brown Marsh Presbyterian Church , about two miles north of Clarkton, Bladen County, NC. Christopher married Katharine Shaw, daughter of Neil Shaw.
